Richard Galliano, international music celebrity will perform an awaited concert on April, 19 on Giordano Theatre on the occasion of the second edition of “Libando, viaggiare mangiando” the local street food festival held in Foggia on April, 17 – 19.

Richard Galliano – 30th Anniversary New Musette Quartet” is the title of his celebrating 30th anniversary of his career project.

It is another great appointment with the Theatre organized by Municipality of Foggia, since when the Giordano Theatre was opened again.

On the stage with Galliano: Sylvain Luc at the guitar; YaronStavi, bassist and André Ceccarelli drummer.

The French accorder, born in Italy and renown at international level, gives new life to the accordion adapting it at the jazz music flexibility and using an innovative and harmonic style and rhythm, showing in this way that play jazz with an accordion is possible.

Galliano’s inspiration is Astor Piazzolla, the creator of “Tango Nuevo”. Galliano is considered his music heir, and he succeeds him giving a new meaning to the great musical tradition.

Worldwide considered as an exceptional soloist, the musician and compositor keeps looking for new musical experiences.

With his "new musette" style managed to breathe new life into a thoroughly French tradition that seemed to have got stuck, always lead by curiosity to afford all the musical genres and to play both with the best jazz players in the world and with others genres.

The concert in Foggia is about his latter musical productions, from classic repertory of Vivaldi and Bach, to his intense passion for tango and Nino Rota’s soundtracks.

Is his hands, a popular instrument as the accordion can resume with originality all these experiences, apparently distance one another, in a new and European music, composed by jazz improvisation and Mediterranean tradition.

Galliano also plays the bandoneon, which is not used frequently in jazz nor classic music as it was relegated at folkloristic and low quality level music.

This destiny is unfair as the intense melancholy of the accordion is perfect to create emotional blues atmospheres, as Galliano shows.

Among his most important jam sessions he played with: Juliette Greco, Claude Nougaro, Chet Baker, Enrico Rava, Ron Carter, Miroslav Vitours, Martial Solal, Charlie Haden, Trilok Gurtu, and of course Astor Piazzolla.
