15 April 2015

This is a recital where the famous tenor from Rome explains the great singer from Naples, though his most renown romances and songs. The event is sponsored by the Municipality of Foggia.

Foggia hosts the tenor GianlucaTerranova, two years after the international success of tvseries “Caruso la voce dell’amore” (“Caruso, the voice of love”), broadcasted on RAI 1 (the Italian television public national channel), which has been awarded as the best series and his main actor as the best actor of 2012.

On April, 17, Terranova will perform on the stage of U. Giordano Theatre a recital about the great Enrico Caruso, which describes, though his most renown romances and songs, the Neapolitan tenor ‘s life and sentimental pains allowing intense interpretations of the “bel canto” repertory, and especially of the “verista” one (an Italian literature historical period, based on a strictly connection with reality), such as “Vesti la Giubba” (“wear your uniform”) which has been the first LP selling one million copies all over the world.

The abovementioned lyric opera title is “GianlucaTerranovacanta Caruso” and it is organized by the cultural Association “Daunia Classica”, sponsored and supported by the Municipality of Foggia.

It is worth reminding that the Master Umberto Giordano chose Caruso, to play the first Loris in his opera “Fedora”, performed in the Milan Lyric Theatre. This opera is the one thatTerranova will sing in Foggia.

The soprano, Sabrina Picci, Terrannova’s partner, will place side by side to the tenor for a duet on some ditty such as “Rigoletto” and “Traviata” with Master Vincenzo Rana on the piano.

Caruso’s voice has no pair. He was dead in Naples, on August, 2 1921 and his voice still touch.

After all, Terranova tributes to Caruso’s life and legend during the tvseries “Caruso la voce dell’amore”, thanks to the power of his voice and to his stagecraft in line with the best Italian opera tradition.

The 44 years old tenor and roman actor, performed in the most renown international theatres, starting with “la Scala” in Milan, “San Carlo” in  Naples, “La Fenice” in Venice, “Massimo” in Palermo, then “the Opera” in Los Angeles and “Arena” in Verona, until Melbourne, Tokyo, Frankfort and other international great theatres.
