After the national debut at “Biondo Stabile” Theatre of Palermo, “L’onorevole” written by Leonardo Sciasciaarranged by Enzo Vetranoand directed by Stefano Randisiwill be performed on February 15 at U. Giordano Theatre.

The performance is scheduled in the second prose season organized by Municipality of Foggia, Culture Department, in cooperation with the Apulia Regional Government Public Theatre Agency.

The show is produced by “Biondo Stabile” Theatre of Palermo and Emilia Romagna Theatre Foundation, in cooperation with “DiabloguesCompagniaVetrano/Randisi”

Fist published on 1965, the script is about an ambiguous coexistence between politic, business, church and criminality, and it is very ironic in typical Sicilian author’s style.

The plot is about favoritisms and corruptions, tricks and treasons: a framework of “ordinary” moral degradation, which erodes, as a cancer, the entire civil society. Sciascia, describes the whole framework through the political carrier of a honest classical mattersteacher, whose personal and public trajectory – despite his best intentions – slowly and inexorably declines in a moral falling down.

Professor Frangipane, morality role model both for his family and for his students, who based his life on high education and respect standards, beloved by his wife Assunta, accepts to be candidate in the current local political elections.

Therefore, his brilliant and unstoppable political career starts, and allows him to reach personal distinction and advantages: in other words, he starts living an uncontested authority.

Although, the price to be paid is composed by miserable compromises, and in the end by ambiguous deal with criminality.

The main character, together with Vetrano andRandisi(who play the role of Professor Frangipane and Monsignor Barbarino), is Laura Marinoniwho plays Assunta, the Professor’s wife.

Otheractors are: Giovanni Moschella, Alessio Barone, Antonio Lo Presti, AngeloCampolo,Aurora Falcone and Aurelio D’Amore.

Scene designer: Mela Dell’Erba
